KING'S WRESTLERS DOWN PENN COLLEGE 45-9WILKES-BARRE — The King's College wrestling team won the first five bouts, four by fall, as the Monarchs posted a 45-9 victory over visiting Penn College of Technology Thursday night in Scandlon Gym.
With the win King's improved to 2-3 on the year while Penn College slipped to 1-3.
The Monarchs got pins from
James Wright (125), Matthew Sparks (133),
Jake Daniel (141), and
Owen Watkins (149) to build a 24-0 lead. The lead grew to 31-0 after
Howard Kilpatrick received a forfeit win at 157.
The Wildcats posted their first win at 165 when Tanner Reid edged
Keith Wanamaker 3-2 to bring the score to 37-3. After the teams traded forfeits at 174 and 184,
Ryan Longenberger came off the injured list to post a 7-4 decision in his season debut at 197. In the final bout at 285, KIng's
Ralph Bernardo posted a pin in 2:32 to end the match.
King's will now be idle until January 3 when the Monarchs compete in the Pennsylvania/New York Duals at Lycoming College.
