KING'S WRESTLERS FALL TO 11TH RANKED WILKES, 42-6WILKES-BARRE — Wilkes University won eight matches, including two by forfeit, as the visiting Colonels posted a 42-6 victory over host King's College in a Middle Atlantic Conference matchup Thursday night in Scandlon Gym.
With the win 11th ranked Wilkes improved to 15-5 while King's fell to 5-16.
After picking up a forfeit at 125 pounds, Wilkes followed up with a pin in 0:34 by Matthew Grossman, a 17-0 technical fall from Pankil Chander at 141, and an 8-2 decision by Josh Evans at 149.
King's got on the board at 157 when
Howard Kilpatrick earned a 6-2 decision but the Colonels countered at 165 when Mason McIntyre scored a pin in 1:48 to put Wilkes ahead 26-3. After Kyle Deisel added a 9-0 major decision for Wilkes at 174, Levi Veppert piked up Wilkes' second forfeit of the day ay 184 to extend the lead to 36.3.
King's picked up its final win at 197-pounds when
Ryan Longenberger earned a 5-3 decision. Wilkes heavyweight David Oberrender set the final score at 42-6 when he score a pin in 0:54 in the final match of the evening.
