King's Men's Tennis Garners 5-4 Win Over Arcadia

KING'S MEN'S TENNIS DOWNS ARCADIA, 5-4

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's tennis team overcame a 2-1 deficit after doubles to win four of the six singles bouts as the Monarchs rallied for a 5-4 victory over visiting Arcadia University Saturday at Kirby Park.

With the win King's improved to 4-5 on the year after playing its first match since March 5 during Spring Break. Arcadia, meanwhile, slipped to 2-2.

Down 2-1 after singles, King's won each of its four of singles bouts in straight sets to walk away with the win. Stephen Brand tallied a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles while Nathan Carl and Ryan Hegarty added respective 6-2, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-0 triumphs in the number three and four slots.  John Labiak added a 6-1, 6-2 win at number-six singles to help the Monarch clinch the victory.

King's lone doubles point came when Brand and Carl teamed up for a 8-3 win.

The Monarchs are slated to play Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Delaware Valley College in Doylestown.
