KING'S MEN'S TENNIS BLANKS EASTERN

ST. DAVIDS -- The King's College men's tennis team improved to 3-0 in Freedom Conference play by going on the road to post a 9-0 victory over host eastern University Saturday in St. Davids.  

With the win King's improved to 7-5 on the year while Eastern slipped to 1-5 and 0-2

The Monarchs opened the match by sweeping the doubles competition.  George Parkhurst and Nathan Carl teamed for a 8-2 victory in the number-one flight while Stephen Brand and Tyler Ryman were 8-1 winners at second doubles. King's built a 3-0 lead when Ryan Hegarty and John Labiak tallied a 8-1 triumph at third doubles.

In singles, Brand and Parkhurst won by respective scores of 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1 in the number-one and two slots. Ryman and Carl then both registered 6-0, 6-0 victories in the third and fourth positions.  The Monarchs clinched the shutout when Hegarty and Matt James also won by 6-0, 6-0 counts. 

King's will next travel to face Misericordia in an important Freedom Conference pairing Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
