KING'S BASEBALL FALLS TO WILKES, 8-1

WILKES-BARRE, PA --- Dan Pisanchyn had three hits and two RBIs to lead the Wilkes University baseball team to a 8-1 victory over King's College on Sunday afternoon at Lipo Field.

King's falls to 4-15 overall and 0-9 in Freedom play with the loss. Wilkes improves to 13-11 overall and 8-4 in league competition.

Wilkes got on the board first with two runs in the first innings. In the bottom of the inning Tom Gibbons led off with a single down the left field line. Gibbons then stole second and advanced to third when Joe Zito grounded out to the second basemen. Stephen Brynok knocked Gibbons in with an infield single to the shortstop.

The Colonels plated one run in the third, two in the sixth, and three in the eighth inning. The Monarchs were held to six hits on the day. Gibbons, Zito, Brynok, Sean Padden, Bruce Breithaupt, and Ryan Civello had a hit each. Ryan Gimbi took the loss on the mound allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out nine.

King's will next be in action on Monday against Eastern University at Lipo Field at 4:00 p.m.
