King's Baseball Falls in Doubleheader to Misericordia

MONARCH BASEBALL FALLS IN TWIN BILL TO MISERICORDIA

DALLAS -- The King's College baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Misericordia University Thursday in Dallas.
 
The Cougars won by scores of 8-4 and 10-1.  With the losses King's slipped to 2-12 overall and 0-6 in Freedom Conference games. Misericordia improved to 13-1 and 3-0.

In the opener the Monarchs fell  behind 6-0 but scored four runs in the fourth. Kyle Lupas, Ryan Civello, and Greg Bartle all singled before Justin Martinelli came through with a two-run single. Tom Gibbons then followed with a two-run double to trim the lead to 6-4. 

Gibbons, Stephen Brynok, Lupas, Civello, Bartle, and Martinelli all had one hit each for the Monarchs.

In the nightcap the Monarchs fell behind 8-1 after two innings and managed five hits in the game. Joe Zito was 2-for-3 as the lone multiple-hit player for King's.

Brynok, Zach Godfrey, and Bruce Breithaupt all had one hit apiece.

King's is slated to return to the field Monday with a 2:00 p.m. home doubleheader against Mt. St. Vincent.
