WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College baseball team posted a pair of victories on Monday as the Monarchs swept a doubleheader from visiting Mt. St. Vincent in a non-conference matchup at Lipo Field.

King's won the opener 5-4 before taking the nightcap 10-1.  With the wins the Monarchs improved to 4-12 while the Dolphins slipped to 4-15.

In the opener King's broke open a scoreless game in the fourth inning when Sean Padden tripled and scored on a single from Joe Civello. The lead grew to 2-0 in the fifth when Tom Gibbons singled, stole second, and scored in a base hit from Greg Bartle.

After the Dolphins tied the score with two runs in the sixth, King's plated three runs in the bottom of the frame. Joe Zito and Ryan Hydock stroked back-to-back singles before Gibbons drew a walk to load the bases. Bartle then walked to bring home a run to give the Monarchs a 3-2 lead. Bruce Breithhaupt then came through with a clutch two-run single to push the King's lead to 5-2.

Mt. St. Vincent cut the lead to 5-4 and had two men on base. But Bartle came in to register the final two outs to preserved the Monarch victory.
Bartle was also 3-for-3 with two RBI at the plate while Joe Civello was 2-for-2 with a RBI.  Gibbons was 1-for-3 with two runs scored while Padden was 2-for-3 with a run.
