KING'S FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO SCRANTON, 3-1WILKES-BARRE, PA --- The King's College field hockey team fell to the visiting University of Scranton on Sunday morning at McCarthy Stadium in Wilkes-Barre.
Scranton improves to 4-0 with the victory while the Monarchs fall to 3-3.
Scranton got on the board just 2:20 into the game when Alyssa Whitman took a cross from Krista Osborne and scored from 10 yards out. The Monarchs were able to tie the game up at 1 in the 16
th minute when
Caitlin Wood was able to convert a penalty stroke.
The Royals scored twice in a five minute span in the second half to go up 3-1. First Ryan Jones scored in the 56
th minute off a penalty corner from Osborne and then Katherine McVeagh scored in the 60
th minute off a shot from the top of the circle that deflected off a King's stick and into the upper left corner of the cage.
Caitlin Wood scored the only goal of the game on two shots for the Monarchs.
Madysen Jones and
Nicole Sott had a shot each.
Paige Tedik made four saves in goal while facing 10 shots.
Alyssa Whitman, Ryan Jones, and Katherine McVeagh each had a goal for the Royals. Krista Osborne had two assists and Meghan Kearney had one. Christina Black got the win in goal making two saves.
Scranton held a 10-4 shot advantage and 5-4 advantage in penalty corners.
King's will next be in action on Tuesday when they travel down the turnpike to Allentown, PA to face Muhlenberg College at 7:30 p.m.
