SENIORS LEAD KING'S MEN'S SOCCER TO 3-0 VICTORY OVER STATEN ISLAND

WILKES-BARRE, PA --- Seniors Daniel Hernandez, Erik Foster, and Raul Cruz scored a goal each to lead the King's College men's soccer team to a 3-0 blanking of the College of Staten Island on Sunday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium in Wilkes-Barre.

The win improved the Monarch's record to 4-1 on the season and marked their third straight shutout and 3-0 victory. Staten Island fell to 0-5 with the loss.

Hernandez opened up the scoring just a couple minutes into the second half when he headed a Chris Nygren corner kick into the upper right corner of the net. In the 68th minute Foster increased the lead to 2-0 when he headed in a rebound off a header from Philip Kistner that went off the crossbar. Cruz scored the third and final goal for King's in the 81st minute when he was able to convert a penalty kick.

The Monarchs outshot the Dolphins 22-8 and held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Daniel Hernandez, Erik Foster, and Raul Cruz each scored one goal while Chris Nygren and Philip Kistner had an assist each. Owen Geedey got the win in goal making three saves.

King's will next be in action tomorrow when they travel to Huntingdon, PA to face Juniata College at 4:00 p.m.
