KING'S FIELD HOCKEY DEFEATS IMMACULATA, 3-2IMMACULATA, PA --- The King's College field hockey team scored two goals in the second half to defeat Immaculata University on Saturday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium on the campus of Immaculata.
The Monarchs improved to 5-3 with the victory while Immaculata falls to 0-7.
The Mighty Macs got on the board first in the 23
rd minute when Patsy Murphy scored off a deflection. King's tied it up seven minutes later when
Kelsey Gabriele scored her first collegiate goal off an assist from
Nicole Sott.
King's took a 2-1 lead in the 43
rd minute when
Madysen Jones scored her team-leading sixth goal of the year off an assist from
Anna Morgan. A little over six minutes later Morgan scored her first collegiate goal off an assist from
Caitlin Wood to give the Monarchs a 3-1 advantage. In the 59
th minute Immaculata was able to cut the deficit to 3-2 on a goal from Megan Donegan. King's held the Mighty Macs without a shot the rest of the game to take the victory.
The Monarchs outshot Immaculata 25-4 and held a 7-5 advantage in penalty corners. The Mighty Macs had 20 saves for the game compared to just one made for King's.
Anna Morgan led the Monarchs with one goal and one assist.
Madysen Jones and
Kelsey Gabriele scored a goal each while
Caitlin Wood had an assist.
Courtney Stefanik got the win in goal making one save.
Immaculata was led by Megan Donegan with one goal and one assist. Patsy Murphy scored a goal and Meredith Katona had an assist. Sarah Pasternak got the loss in goal making 14 saves.
King's will be in action next on Wednesday when they host Moravian College at McCarthy Stadium at 4:00 p.m.
