KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER RALLIES WITH THREE SECOND HALF GOALS TO DEFEAT ALBRIGHT 3-2READING — The King's College women's soccer team displayed tremendous heart, scoring three second-half goals to rally for a 3-2 victory over host Albright College Saturday night in Reading.
With the win King's improved to 3-1 on the year while Albright slipped to 2-3-2.
After Albright took a 1-0 half-time lead, KIng's tied the score at 1-1 on an unassisted goal by
Lauren Phillips just 5:06 into the final period. Albright, though would quickly regain the lead when Kennedy Lutz score just 0:56 later to give the Lions a 2-1 advantage at the 51:02 mark.
But King's would not be denied and quickly responded with an
Amy Barge score 3:37 later to tie the score at 2-2 at 54:39. The Monarchs then forged ahead when
Raquel Molina struck net at 59:58 to put King's on top 3-2 with 30:02 to play. The KIng's defense did the job the rest of the way, limiting Albright to just two shots over the remainder of play.
King's held a slim 13-12 advantage in shots while both teams had just one corner kick apiece. King's goalie
Jessica Natale made four saves in net.
The Monarchs travel to Williamsport to face Lycoming College Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
