King's Field Hockey Wins Freedom Opener with 5-3 Verdict over Delaware Valley

KING'S FIELD HOCKEY WINS FREEDOM OPENER WITH 5-2 DECISION OVER DEL-VAL
WILKES-BARRE -- Alyssa Monaghan scored twice and handed out an assist and Caitlin Wood added one goal and one assist as the King's College field hockey team won its Freedom Conference opener with a 5-3 victory over visiting Delaware Valley University Friday night at McCarthy Stadium.
With the win King's improved to 7-3 while the Aggies slipped to 4-4.

Monaghan opened the scoring at 8:49 on an unassisted goal. Madysen Jones made it a 2-0 game off an assist from Monaghan at 12:59 as King's took a 2-1 lead into the halftime break.
After the Aggies tied the game at 2-2, King's scored two straight goals, the first an unassisted tally by Caitlyn Wood and the second a penalty stroke from Monaghan with 27:21 left in the contest. The teams traded goals over the final 25 minutes with Anna Morgan pushing across the final King's goal unassisted with 20:44 on the clock.
King's outshot Delaware Valley 26-3 in total shots and owned a 13-2 advantage in penalty corners.

King's plays Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. matchup against Ramapo College at McCarthy Stadium.
