KING'S WRESTLERS FALL TO LYCOMING, 32-12WILKES-BARRE — Visiting Lycoming College opened up a 19-0 lead after the first four matches and won seven of he 10 bouts to post a 32-12 victory over kost King's College in a Middle Atlantic Conference wrestling match Sunday in Scandlon Gymnasium.
With the won, Lycoming improved to 12-6 while King's fell to 5-13.
The Warriors started the match with a 13-1 major decision at 125, then followed with a first period pin at 133 to take a 10-0 lead. At 141, Lycoming posted another major decision, then added a technical fall at 149 to build a 19-0 advantage.
King's got on the board at 157 when
Howard Kilpatrick earned a 8-3 decision to improve his season mark to 20-6. But Lycoming countered with a 10-1 major decision at 165; a technical fall at 174; and a fourth major decision at 184 to stretch the lead to 32-3.
The Monarchs would wi the last two matches as
Ryan Longenberger (8-3) gained a narrow 3-2 decision, before
Ralph Bernardo (15-8) ended the match with a pin in 2:18 to set the final score.
King's returns to the mat Friday with a 7:00 p.m. matchup at Elizabethtown College.
