KING'S WRESTLERS GO 0-3 AT BUD WHITEHILL NATIONAL DUALS
WILLIAMSPORT -- The King's wrestling team dropped all three matches Friday on the opening day of the Budd Whitehill National Duals at Lycoming College. King's fell to 22nd ranked York 38-6 in its first match; then dropped a 45-3 contest to Springfield College. The Monarchs then finished with a 32-6 loss to Waynesburg University.
In King's (3-7) first match of the day against York College the Monarchs' lone win came at 157-pounds when Howard Kilpatrick posted a pin in 4:44 over Cory Rank. Ralph Bernardo (285) dropped a 8-1 decision to seventh-ranked Mike Spencer.
Against Springfield, Edward Merrill was the lone Monarch winner, posting an 8-4 decision over Severianel Burgos.Tony Immediato fell by fall to seventh-ranked Zach Joseph at 149.
In its loss to Waynesburg, Kilpatrick won his second match of the day with a 15-0 technical fall over Derek Hull. Merrill also won his second bout with a 12-5 decision over Joshua Sneeringer.
King's will face Ohio Northern University Saturday at 9:00 a.m., and will then meet either Trine University or Rochester Institute of Technology at 12:00 noon.
The Monarchs will then travel to face the University of Scranton Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
