King’s Volleyball Sweeps MAC Crossover Matches

KING'S VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS ALVERNIA AND HOOD AT MAC CROSSOVER

FREDERICK, MD --- The King's College volleyball team defeated Alvernia University 3-1 and Hood College 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at BB&T Arena on the campus of Hood College in Frederick, MD.

The Monarchs improve to 12-6 and win both of their MAC Freedom/Commonwealth Crossover matches for the first time since the event began in 2011. King's defeated Alvernia by scores of 25-11, 25-16, 21-25, 25-13 in their first match before sweeping host Hood by scores of 25-16, 25-16, 25-23

In the opener, Maddie Kumm recorded her 1,000the assist of her career and finished the match with 36 assists and 11 digs. Julie Kollar had 12 kills, two assists, four aces, five digs, and three block assists while Maureen Kloap had 10 kills, three aces, and 15 digs. Rachel Miller had nine kills, four aces, and 10 digs while Katelyn Shifflett recorded eighth kills, and three block assists. Kristen Bohnenblusch had four aces, 13 digs and a block assist. As a team the Monarchs had 15 serving aces and seven blocks.

In the nightcap Kloap led the team with 10 kills and 10 digs while Shifflett had 10 kills, one ace, and two block assists. Kumm dished out 33 assists and added three aces while recording five digs. Miller and Nicole McQuillan added six kills each while Bohnenblusch had six aces. As a team the Monarchs had 12 serving aces.

King's will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel down River Street to take on cross-town rival Wilkes University in a important MAC Freedom match at 7:00 p.m.
