DIMAGGIO SCORES FOUR GOALS TO POWER KING'S FIELD HOCKEY PAST DELAWARE VALLEY
DOYLESTOWN -- Junior Brianna DiMaggio scored a career-high four goals to power the King's College field hockey team to a 5-2 victory over host Delaware Valley University Friday night in Doylestown.
With the win, King's improved to 9-5 overall and 3-1 in Freedom Conference play while Delaware Valley slipped to 6-9 and 2-2.
King's took a 1-0 lead 3:37 into the game on a Kelsey Gabriele unassisted goal.  DiMaggio then scored her first goal just 3:17 later on an assist from Caitlin Wood. DiMaggio then gave King's a 3-0 lead with an unassisted score at the 19:27  mark.
After the Aggies scored two goals to cut the lead to 3-2, DiMaggio concluded a wild first half with her third goal off another Wood assist with 1:58 left in the opening stanza to put the Monarchs ahead 4-2 at the break.
DiMaggio added the final goal of the game on an assist from Gabriele with 16:54 left in the contest to set the final score.
DiMaggio's total tied the second-best single-game scoring mark in program history. Gabriele finished with one goal and one assist while Wood tallied two assists in the victory.  Paige Tedik made three saves in net for King's.
King's will next travel to face cross-town rival Wilkes Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium.
