King's Women's Soccer Keeps Playoff Hopes Alive with 1-0 Win Over Del-Val

KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER POSTS 1-0 WIN OVER DELAWARE VALLEY

WILKES-BARRE -- Allison Andrew scored the only goal of the match with 29:18 remaining as the King's College women's soccer team posted an important 1-0 victory over visiting Delaware Valley University Tuesday night at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win King's improved to 5-8 overall and kept its playoff hopes alive by upping its Freedom Conference ledger to 2-3.

After a scoreless first half, King's Savannah Tucker placed a short cross from the right side of the box to the front of the goal where Andrew scored on a one-timer from eight yards out.  

King's defense did an outstanding job of limiting the Aggies to just five shots in the game while the Monarchs managed 15. The Aggies owned a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.  King's goalie Jess Schenfeld was forced to make just one save while Aggie counterpart Emily Schukraft had eight stops,

King's returns to action Saturday with another important league game as the Lady Monarchs travel to face Eastern University at 12:0 noon in St. Davids.
