King's Volleyball Wins Both Ends of Tri-Meet

KING'S VOLLEYBALL POSTS 3-0 SWEEPS OVER BRYN ATHYN AND CAIRN

WILKES-BARRE — The King's College women's volleyball team swept both ends of a triangular meet Saturday in Scandlon Gymnasium.  The Lady Monarchs posted respective 3-0 victories over Bryn Athyn College and Cairn University to improve to 18-11 on the year.

In the opener, King's defeated Bryn Athyn by scores of 25-7, 25-12, 25-22. Rachel Miller led the way with 14 kills and seven digs. Katelyn Shifflett followed with nine kills and three digs while Olivia Musto added eight kills and two digs. Maddie Kumm dished out 32 assists with seven digs while Julie Kollar contributed seven kills.  Emma Hanrahan and Kristen Bohnenblusch tallied nine digs each while Jessica Carr chipped in with four kills and seven digs.

Against Cairn, King's won by scores of 25-15, 25-17, 25-13.  Miller again led the attack with 15 kills, five aces, and nine digs. Shifflett followed with 10 kills and four service aces while Musto also contributed 10 kills. Kumm distributed  30 assists with 13 digs while Bohnenblusch tallied 11 digs.

King's returns to the court Wednesday with a critical 7:00 p.m. Freedom Conference home matchup against DeSales University in Scandlon Gym. King's must win its league finals to qualify for the Freedom Conference Tournament.
