King's Field Hockey Blanks Misericordia 2-0 in Freedom Conference Tilt

KING'S FIELD HOCKEY DOWNS MISERICORDIA, 2-0

WIlKES-BARRE -- The King's College field hockey team scored once in each half as the Monarchs posted an important 2-0 Freedom Conference victory over visiting Misericordia University Friday night at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win King's improved to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in league play. The Cougars slipped to 2-10 and 1-2.

King's took a 1-0 lead 8:17 into the game when Brianna DiMaggio scored off a crossing pass by Selina Malacari.  The Monarchs added the final goal of the match with 16:33 on the clock when Kelsey Gabriele knocked in a rebound off the Cougar keeper's pads.

King's outshot Misericordia 7-5 while the Cougars held a 11-7 advantage in penalty corners. Monarch goalie Paige Tedik made one save in net.

King's returns to the field Friday with a 7:00 p.m. matchup at Delaware Valley University.
