LADY MONARCHS SET TO FACE SCRANTON AND MARYWOOD THIS WEEKEND
WILKES-BARRE, PA --- The King's College women's basketball team will return to the hardwood this weekend when they will participate in the Cross County Challenge at the University of Scranton on Saturday and Sunday in Scranton.
The inaugural women's event will follow the same format as the men's event in its sixth year. Two Luzerne County colleges, King's and Wilkes University will square off against two Lackawanna County colleges, Scranton and Marywood University, in a round robin format. The Lady Monarchs will face host University of Scranton on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and then will square off against Marywood University on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Wilkes will face Marywood at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday and then square off against Scranton on Sunday at 7:00 p.m.

The Lady Monarchs are coming off a thrilling come-from-behind 57-56 victory over Franklin and Marshall College in which
Olivia Hoffmann completed a 15-point second half comeback with a buzzer beating jumper off an inbound pass from
Cayle Spencer with 1.8 seconds left. The win gave the team a 1-2 record heading into this weekend's games.
Rebecca Prociak leads the team with 14.3 points and 7.7 rebounds a game after a monstrous weekend at the Terry Greene Tip-Off Tournament where she was named to the All-Tournament Team. Hoffman recorded double-doubles in the first two games of the season and is averaging 10.0 points and 7.3 rebounds this year.
Alexis Steeber adds 8.3 points and 5.7 rebounds,
Kayla Feairheller is averaging 7.0 points and 3.7 rebounds, and
Shae Grim is scoring 5.0 points per game for King's.
Scranton enters the game 3-0 and ranked #5 in the nation in the D3hoops.com poll and #3 in the WBCA Coaches poll. The Royals followed up a 63-59 victory at #7 ranked University of Rochester this weekend with an 83-23 drubbing of Cabrini University on Tuesday night.
Bridgette Mann leads the team with 17.0 points per game. Alexix Roman is scoring 11.3 points and grabbing 8.0 rebounds per game while Mackenzie Yori is scoring 11.3 points. Sarah Payonk is averaging 11.3 points and a team-high 9.3 rebounds per game.
The Pacers of Marywood University enter the weekend with a 1-2 record after a 95-68 loss at Widener University on Tuesday night in Chester. Natasha Hessling leads the team with 10.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Gab Giordano chips in 7.7 points and 4.3 rebounds, Lisa Steakin is scoring 7.7 points, and Alexandra Evans adds 6.7 points per game.
Wilkes is 2-2 this season after a 76-65 victory over Alvernia University on Tuesday night. The Colonels are led by Gianna Roberts with 10.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Haley Mesaros adds 8.8 points while Ashley Caster is averaging 8.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Emelie Meinhart is scoring 7.0 points per game for Wilkes.
