KING'S GRAPPLERS FALL TO ELIZABETHTOWN, 25-14ELIZABETHTOWN, PA – Elizabethtown College jumped out to a 15-0 lead by winning the first four matches and won six of the 10 matches to defeat King's College 25-14 on Friday night at Thompson Gymnasium on the campus of Elizabethtown in Elizabethtown.
With the win the Blue Jays improve to 6-6 while the Monarchs fall to 5-14.
Elizabethtown started the match off with a 7-5 decision at 125 and then got three straight major decisions at 133, 141, and 149 to take a 15-0 lead.
Howard Kilpatrick got the Monarchs on the board with a 14-6 major decision at 157.
Angelo Lussi got a 6-0 decision at 165 and
Zach Smith grinded out an 8-6 decision at 174 to cut the lead to 15-10.
The Blue Jays got a major decision at 184 and then clinched the match at 197 when
Ryan Longenberger was injured late in the first period and was forced to retire.
Ralph Bernardo ended the match with a 14-6 major decision at 285.
King's returns to the mat on Tuesday when they will travel to Hackettstown, N.J. to face host Centenary College and Mount Saint Vincent in a tri-match beginning at 6:00 p.m.
