King's Men's Tennis Freedom Conf. Tourney Match at FDU Postponed to Thursday

KING'S MEN'S TENNIS TRAVELING TO FDU-FLORHAM FOR MAC FREEDOM SEMI-FINALS

WILKES-BARRE — The King's College men's tennis team will open the 2016 Freedom Conference Tournament against FDU-Florham. The match has been rescheduled for Tursday at 3:30 p.m. due to Wednesday's rain. The contest will be held at nearby Drew University, also located in Madison.

The Monarchs will be making their 10th post-season appearance in the last 11 years , including a fifth straight. King's enters the event as the third seed after going 9-9 overall and 3-2 in conference play.  FDU, meanwhile, is 11-9 and 3-2 in league play and just defeated King's 5-4 on Saturday to earn the second seed.

King's is led by senior George Parkhurst who is 18-5 in the number-one singles slot. Sophomore Nathan Carl follows with a 15-6 mark at second singles while Matt James is 4-13 at number-three. Senior John Labiak owns a 9-12 record at fourth singles while senior Ryan Hegarty is 4-11 in the fifth slot. Sophomore Terry Briggs is 10-10 and will play sixth singles.

In doubles, Parkhurst and Carl are 13-7 in the number-one flight. Labiak and Hegarty are 1-4 at second doubles while James and Briggs are 1-1 in the third flight.

For FDU, Max Moscowicz will hold down the number-one single slot and is 10-8 this season. Jason Dubinsky is in the second flight and owns a 4-12 mark while Rich Bennett is 7-10 at third singles.  Chris Ly is 11-6 at fourth singles while Ryan O'Keefe is 8-10 at number-five. Steven Serras rounds out the Devils' singles line-up with a 8-8 record at the sixth flight.

In doubles, Moscowitz and Bennett are 4-9 at number-one while O'Keefe and Ly stand at 8-5 in the second slot. Dubinsky/Serras are 6-7 at third doubles.

The winner will advance to the Freedom Conference championship on Saturday at a time to be announced. The victor will face the winner of the other semi-final matchup between top-seeded Wilkes and fourth-seeded Misericordia at the site of the highest remaining seed.
