King’s Field Hockey Suffers 3-2 Loss to Susquehanna

THREE SECOND HALF GOALS LEAD SUQUEHANNA TO 3-2 VICTORY OVER KING'S

SELINSGROVE, PA --- The Susquehanna field hockey team used three second half goals to defeat King's College 3-2 on Saturday afternoon at Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.

The Monarchs fall to 2-2 with the loss while the River Hawks improve to 2-1.

Nicole Sott gave the Monarchs a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute when her shot found the back of the cage off of a penalty corner from Kelsey Gabriele. Susquehanna was able to tie the game up at one in the 49th minute when Hunter Pitman tipped in a pass from Tessa Wodring on the right side.

The River Hawks took the lead in the 53rd minute when Julia Hasircoglu converted a penalty stroke. The third Susquehanna goal came in the 59th minute when Emily Novakovich scored off an assist from Cayla Spatz. The Monarchs were able to cut the deficit to 3-2 when Brianna DiMaggio scored her fourth goal of the year in the 62nd minute but were unable to find the game equalizing goal.

King's was led by Nicole Sott and Brianna DiMaggio who scored a goal each. Kelsey Gabriele added an assist and Paige Tedik made seven saves.

The River Hawks outshot King's 18-8 including 13-4 in the second half. Susquehanna also had a 8-5 advantage in penalty corners. Morgan Ludlam picked up the win in goal for Susquehanna making three saves.

King's will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Muhlenberg College at McCarthy Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
