King's Field Hockey Posts 6-1 Win Over Immaculata

KING'S FIELD HOCKEY EARNS 6-1 WIN OVER IMMACULATA

WILKES-BARRE -- Caitlin Wood scored twice and added an assist while Selina Malacari also contributed two goals as the King's College field hockey team to a 6-1 victory over visiting Immaculata College Friday night at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win King's improved to 3-3 while Immaculata slipped to 3-3.

King's took a 1-0 lead a just 1:14 into the game when Wood scored unassisted. The score grew to 2-0 with 22:31 on the clock after Kelley O'Keefe struck net off a short cross by Brianna DiMaggio.

The Monarchs pushed the lead to 3-0 with 13:52 to go when Anna Morgan converted a feed pass from the top of the circle by Sarah Zbierski.  King's took a 4-0 lead at the break when Malacari scored unassisted with 12:41 remaining.

In the second half King's upped the lead to 5-0 when Malacari tipped in a drive off the stick of Wood 1:54 into the final stanza.

The Monarchs pushed across their final goal when Wood scored unassisted with 30:28 to go in the contest.


Immaculate finally got on the board when Nicole Domenick redirected a shot from Meredith Katona following a penalty corner with 3:22 left for the final goal of the game.

King's held a 19-3 advantage in shots as well as a 8-4 advantage in penalty corners.  

The Monarchs return to the field Sunday with a 12:00 p.m. matchup at the University of Scranton.
