KING'S MEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS JUNIATA 2-1 ON OVERTIME PENALTY KICK

WILKES-BARRE -- Brendan Raab scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick with 1:57 left in the first overtime period as the King's College men's soccer team squeezed out a 2-1 victory over visiting Juniata College Saturday night at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win King's improved to 3-3 while Juniata slipped to 1-6.

Jonathan Nixon gave King's a 1-0 lead with 29:09 remaining in the first half with an unassisted goal. Juniata tied the score with 23:58 left in regulation when John Miller scored on a double-assist by Jarrod Gibson and Wyatt Pierce.

King's controlled the majority of the first overtime frame and was rewarded when Raab was fouled inside the box and awarded a free chance.  The Monarch junior perfectly placed his shot into the upper right portion of the net for the game-winner.

King's outshot Juniata 25-4 and held a 12-4 advantage in corner kicks. Owen Geedey picked up the win in  net for King's.

The Monarchs will travel to face Alfred University Wednesday in a 4:00 p.m. matchup in Alfred, NY.
