KING'S FIELD HOCKEY REGISTERS 2-0 VICTORY OVER SCRANTON

SCRANTON -- The King's College field hockey team scored once in each half as the Monarchs went on the road to post a 2-0 non-conference victory over local rival University of Scranton Sunday at Fitzpatrick Field.

With the win King's improved to 4-3 on the year while Scranton slipped to 3-3 .

The Monarchs took a 1-0 lead 21:38 into the first half when Caitlin Wood scored on an unassisted goal with a blast from the top left of the circle.  King's added an insurance goal when Kelsey Gabriele struck net after a long carry from midfield to place a shot in the right side of the net.

King's outshot Scranton 13-4, including a 9-0 edge in the first half. The Monarchs also owned a 10-6 advantage in penalty corners.  Paige Tedik made three saves in goal for King's.

The Monarchs will travel to Bethlehem on Wednesday to face Moravian College in a 5:00 p.m.non-league matchup.
