KING'S FIELD HOCKEY POST CONVINCING 4-1 WIN OVER KEYSTONE

WILKES-BARRE, PA --- The King's College field hockey team won their fifth consecutive game on Wednesday night with a convincing 4-1 victory over visiting Keystone College at McCarthy Stadium in Wilkes-Barre.

The Monarchs improve to 7-3 with the win while Keystone falls to 3-4.

Selina Malacari gave King's a 1-0 lead just 1:22 into the game when she was able to knock a Brianna DiMaggio cross from the left side pass the Keystone keeper and into the cage. Caitlin Wood made it 2-0 a few minutes later when she knocked a DiMaggio feed into the circle into the back of the cage. A minute and a half later Kelsey Gabriele made it 3-0 when she scored off a feed from Sarah Zbierski off a penalty corner.

Wood scored her second goal of the game in the 43rd minute when Gabriele sent a pass into the scoring circle and she was able to knock it pass the goalie and into the back of the cage. The Giants broke the Monarchs' shutout streak when Rebecca Dempster scored from the left wing off a pass from Breanna Paulson off a penalty corner.

Caitlin Wood led King's with two goals while Brianna DiMaggio added two assists. Kelsey Gabriele had a goal and an assist, Selina Malacari scored a goal, and Sarah Zbierski added an assist. Paige Tedik got the win in cage making two saves. 

The Monarchs outshot the Giants 19-4 and had a 16-5 advantage in penalty corners.

King's will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Purchase, N.Y. to face Manhattanville College in a MAC Freedom game beginning at 1:00 p.m.
