KING'S MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO GETTYSBURG 3-0
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's soccer team was unable to make a 1-0 half-time lead stand up as visiting Gettysburg College rallied for a 3-1 victory Sunday at McCarthy Stadium.
With the win Gettysburg improved to 1-1 while King's slipped to 0-2.
King's took a 1-0 lead with 13:47 left in the first half when Cassidy Tripolitis corralled a loose ball on the left flank following a cross and placed the ball just inside the right post.
In the second half the Bullets knotted the score at the 27:34 mark when Henry Smith headed in a cross from K.J. DePontes. Gettysburg then took a 2-1 lead with 10:20 remaining when Patrick Santini took a pass down the right side and outran two King's defenders before drilling a shot into the upper right corner of the net.
The Bullets added an insurance goal with 1:41 to play when Bobby Weikert scored upper right off a short cross by DePontes to seal the victory.
Gettysburg outshot King's 21-3 and held a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks. Monarch goalie Owen Geedey made sisx saves on the day.
King's returns to the field Saturday and Sunday at the Potsdam College Cup at Potsdam State University in Upstate, NY.
