WILKES-BARRE — The King's College women's volleyball team picked up a much-needed Freedom Conference victory Tuesday night as the Lady Monarchs defeated cross-town rival Wilkes University 3-0 in Scandlon Gymnasium.

King's, which won by scores of 25-15, 27-25, 25013, improved to 12-8 overall and 3-1 in Freedom Conference play. Wilkes, meanwhile, slipped to 4-14 and 0-4. The Lady Monarchs are currently locked in a three-way tie for second-place in the league standings.

Rachel Miller led King's with 16 kills, five digs and two service aces. Katelyn Shifflett followed with 12 kills, 13 digs, and four blocks. Jill Korgeski contributed seven kills and 18 digs while Maddie Kumm handed out 38 assists, including the 2,000 assist of her career, and added 10 digs. Hannah Gallagher posted five kills and 17 digs for the Lady Monarchs.

Wilkes was paced by Jamey Mikovich with 13 kills and 12 digs while Kayley Schinski followed with eight kills and five digs. Juliet Betke chipped in with 12 digs while Alexis Morgan dished out 29 assists.

King's travels to Gwynedd-Mercy University Wednesday for a 6:00 PM matchup.
