King's Volleyball Team Set for MAC Freedom Tournament Semi-Finals Wednesday at DeSales

KING'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM TRAVELING TO DESALES FOR MAC FREEDOM SEMI-FINAL WEDNESDAY

WILKES-BARRE — The King's College women's volleyball team will compete in the MAC Freedom Conference Tournament Wednesday at 7:00 PM with a semi-final matchup against host DeSales University in Billera Hall.

Ticket prices have been set by the Middle Atlantic Conference at $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and $3 for students.

King's, which is making its first post-season conference tournament appearance since 2008, enters the event as the fourth seed after posting a 20-10 overall record while going 4-3 in MAC Freedom Conference play.  DeSales, meanwhile, finished the regular-season with a 21-9 overall record while going 7-0 in league play.  DeSales defeated King's 3-0 in the team's regular-season meeting last Wednesday by scores of 25-29. 25-19, 25-21.

The Lady Monarchs finished the year winning 11 of their last 13 matches, losing to only DeSales and defending conference champion Eastern who is seeded second in the event.  

Pacing the King's attack is junior outside hitter Rachel Miller  who has posted a team-high 341 kills with 274 digs, 42 service aces, and 21 total blocked shots.  Senior middle hitter Katelyn Shifflett follows with 271 kills, 174 digs, 29 service aces, and 58 total blocks Junior outside hitter Jill Korgeski adds 208 kills, a team-high 335 digs, 29 total blocks, and 29 service aces.

Junior setter Maddie Kumm has distributed 865 assists with 199 digs, 29 service aces, and 23 total blocks. Freshman hitter Hannah Gallagher has registered 98 kills, 145 digs, 19 service aces, and 32 blocks while senior hitter Alexis Swagler contributes 64 kills, 92 digs, 10 blocks, and 10 aces.

Junior defensive specialist Julie Kollar has posted 224 digs and 20 kills while freshman hitter Rachel Galante has tallied 46 kills and 17 blocks. Freshmen Lindsey Brady has garnered 45 digs while and Alyssa Robinson chip in with44 assists and 59 digs.

DeSales is paced by junior hitter Gabby Savite with 383 kills while freshman hitter Noel Kelly has posted 341 kills. Freshman setter Julia Bradford has dished out 1,032 assists while junior libero Natalie Gray has a team-high 567 digs.

Should King's emerge victorious the Lady Monarchs will play for the MAC Freedom Conference title Saturday against the winner of the other semi-final pairing between second-seeded eastern and third-seeded FDU-Florham. The game would be played at the site of the highest remaining seed at a time to be announced.
