KING'S MEN'S HOCKEYÂ FALLS AT ELMIRA 7-4
ELMIRA, NY -- Nick Ford scored four goals and handed out one assist as the host Elmira College men's ice hockey team posted a 7-4 victory over King's College Saturday night in Elmira, NY.
With the win Elmira improved to 2-2Â while King's slipped to 0-2.
The Monarchs, in just their second game in program history, played a solid first period in forging a 2-2 tie after the opening 20 minutes of play.Â
But in a decisive second period the Soaring Eagles outscored the Monarchs 4-1 to take a 6-3 lead heading into the third period. The teams would trade one goal apiece over the final 20 minutes to set the final score.
For King's it was a marked offensive improvement after falling to Brockport State 6-2 in its inaugural game last Saturday.
Anthony Frati scored twice for King's while Luciano Bucci and Orion Linnehan added a goal apiece. Nicholas Palumbo dished out two assists while Tyler O'Mara, Isaac Cirinna, Jamie Lukas, and Eric Menninger posted one assist apiece.
Elmira outshot King's 56-25. Monarch goalie Link Ferch made 49 saves in net.
King's returns home Friday with a 7:00 PM matchup against Stevenson University at Revolution Ice Centre. On Saturday, the Monarchs will host Neumann University at 7:00 PM.
