KING'S WRESTLERS SPLIT TRI-EET IN McGINLEY'S FINAL DUAL MEET COMPETITION

WILKES-BARRE — King's College retiring wrestling coach Ned McGinley coached the final dual meets of his career as the Monarchs split a tri-meet Thursday night in Scandlon Gymnasium. The Monarchs dropped a 36-12 decision to 24th ranked Wilkes University before handing McGinley a 48-12 win over Penn College of Technology in his final match. McGinley is stepping down after his 48th season a King's head coach

With the split, King's ended the regular-season with a 10-15 record. Wilkes stands at 20-5 while Penn College fell to 1-13.  McGinley will concluded his coaching career with a 455-450-1 record and coached 906 dual meets at King's.

Against Wilkes, the Monarchs fell behind 26-o before Howard Kilpatrick posted a 3-2 decision over Michael Paskas at 165-pounds and Zach Smith earned a 4-0 verdict over Brett McGill in the 174-pound class. The Monarchs picked up their final win at 197 when Eddie Merrill pinned Nasser McCummings in 2:06.

In the Penn College match, the teams combed for six forfeits with the Monarchs picking up five forfeit victories. Jake Daniel earned a pin in 1:58 at 141 before Tony Immediate registered a pin in 2:16 at 149. At 184, King's Nick Price won by injury default at 4:00 and Merrill registered his second fall of the night in 1:20.

The Monarchs will now be idle until February 24-25 at the NCAA East Regional Tournament at Franklin County High School in Rocky Mountain, Virginia. Ferrum College will serve as the host college/
