KING'S BASKETBALL TEAMS HEADING TO MISERICORDIA

WILKES-BARRE — The King's College basketball teams will return to the court on Wednesday with a Freedom Conference doubleheader against local rival Misericordia University in Dallas.  The women tip off at 6:00 PM with the men to follow at 8:00 PM.

The King's women stand at 4-16 overall and 2-8 in the Freedom Conference league after a 75-49 loss at Eastern University on Wednesday. The Cougars are 15-6 overall and are 8-2 in the league after a 80-38 non-conference win over Penn College on Monday  which preceded a 86-74 league win over Delaware Valley on Saturday  The teams played their first regular-season game back on January 18 with Misericordia posting a 60-49 triumph in Scandlon Gymnasium.

King's has been led thus far by freshman power-forward Rebecca Prociak who averages 11.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per-game.  Senior small forward Kayla Feairheller follows with 9.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and team highs of 45 assists and 23 three-pointers.  Sophomore forward Alexis Steeber has tallied with 8.9 points and 5.0 rebounds while junior center Olivia Hoffman adds 8.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 80 blocked shots. Senior guard Shae Grim posts 5.3 points and 3.0 rebounds while sophomore guard-forward Erin Schmidt nets 4.0 points with 23 three-pointers. Senior point-guard Kasey Seitz chips in with 2.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 24 assists. The Lady Monarchs average 53.1 points per-game while allowing 63.1 each contest.

Misericordia is led by senior center Justine Seeley who averages 16.5 points, 11.3 rebounds, and has 62 blocks. Rachel Carmody follows with 10.7 points and 8.6 rebounds while Japriya Carroll adds 8.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists. The Cougars average 66.5 points while yielding 58.0 per-game.

The King's men stand at 5-16 overall and 1-9 in Freedom Conference play after nearly upsetting league co-leader Eastern 75-72 on Saturday. The Monarchs also dropped a 61-58 verdict to league co-leader Delaware Valley on Wednesday. The Monarchs are living their own version of the movie "Groundhog Day," losing their last three games by three-point margins with an opportunity to tie the score on the final possession of each game.  King's has experienced a season of great frustration, having lost seven of their last eight games by six or fewer points.

Misericordia, meanwhile, is 14-7 overall and 5-5 in league games after a 87-75 loss at Delaware Valley on Saturday.  Misericordia won the first meeting against King's by a 62-48 count.

King's has been paced by senior power forward Dan Rutecki who leads the team with 14.6 points and 8.0 rebounds while also standing first on the team with 44 assists. Junior guard Connor Callejas follows with 13.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 42 assists, and a team-high 50 three-pointers. Sophomore guard Jake Barber has tallied 7.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 25 three pointers while freshman guard Tyler Millan has tallied 6.3 points with 26 three-pointers. Senior guard John Fazzini adds 6.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 36 assists, and 23 three-pointers while junior forward Chris Fazzini contributes 6.2 points and 4.0 rebounds.  Rookie center Andrew Hudak chips in with 5.0 points and 4.7 boards.   The Monarchs average 68.2 points while allowing 70.8 per-game.

Misericordia is led by Jason Kenney with 21.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 44 three-pointers. Tony Harding follows with 14.5 points and 7.2 rebounds with 33 three-pointers. Tre Field also tallies 14.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 37 three-pointers while Griffin Snonaugle chips in with 10.8 points and 45 treys. The Cougars average 86.9 points while allowing 76.5.

After concluding their games with Misericordia, both King's teams will play their final home games of the season Saturday against DeSales University.  The women tip off at 1:00 PM while the men's game is set for 3:00 PM.
