KING'S WRESTLERS FALL TO 19TH RANKED CENTENARY, 38-12
WILKES-BARRE — Visiting Centenary College, ranked 19th nationally in Division III, won seven of the 10 matches to post a 38-12 victory over host King's College in a non-conference wrestling match Tuesday night in Scandlon Gymnasium.
With the win, Centenary improved to 9-2 while King's slipped to 8-14.
King's jumped out to a 6-0 lead when freshman
Dakota Quick (16-6) scored a second period pin. The Cyclones, however, would register two pins, a major decision, and a forfeit over the next four bouts to take a 22-6 lead.
King's got back on the board with two straight wins. At 167,
Howard Kilpatrick (18-5) tallied a 10-4 decision at 167 while
Zach Smith (13-4) posted a 5-1 decision at 174 to trim the lead to 22-12. But the Cyclones put the match away with pins at 184 and 197, along with a major decision at heavyweight.
The Monarchs return to the mat Friday with a 7:00 PM home matchup against Keystone College in Scandlon Gymnasium.
