KING'S VOLLEYBALL OPENS WITH TRI-MEET SWEEP

WILKES-BARRE — The King's College women's volleyball team opened the season with a pair of 3-0 victories in its season-opening tri-meet in Scandlon Gymnasium.

The Monarchs downed Cairn University 3-1 in its opener by scoffers of 25-14, 25-5, 25-16. King's then bested Penn State Abington 3-0 by scores of 25-10, 25-11, 25-11. The victory over PSU-Abington enabled KIng's to avenge a 3-2 loss to the Lions last season.

Rachel Miller led the way with 28 kills, eight service aces and 16 digs while Maddie Kumm dished out a combined 55 assists with four aces. Hannah Gallagher added 11 kills while Jill Korgeski chipped in with 10 kills and 23 digs. Katelyn Shifflett contributed nine kills and 13 digs..  Rachel Galante had eight kills against Cairn. Julie Kollar posted four kills, six assists, and six digs against Penn State Abington.

King's returns to the court Tuesday at Clarks Summit University at 6:00 PM
