KING'S VOLLEYBALL WINS FIVE-SET THRILLER OVER MANHATTANVILLE IN FREEDOM CONFERENCE OPENER
WILKES-BARRE — The King's College women's volleyball team opened up its 2017 Freedom Conference schedule in thrilling fashion as the Lady Monarchs won a five-set barn-burner over visiting Manhattanville College Wednesday night in Scandlon Gymnasium.
King's, which rallied from a 2-1 deficit, won the last two sets to earn the victory by scores of 21-25, 25-16, 18-25, 25-19, 15-10. With the victory, the Lady Monarchs improved to 8-1 on the year while Manhattanville slipped to 5-2.
Rachel Miller led the attack for King's with 24 kills and 12 digs while hitting .373 for the match.
Katelyn Shifflett followed with 15 kills and five block assists while hitting .333.
Jill Korgeski added 11 kills and 12 digs while
Maddie Kumm dished out 50 assists with 15 digs, two blocks and three kills.
Julie Kollar posted a team-high 18 digs while
Hannah Gallagher contributed 10 digs and two blocks .
Alexis Swagler chipped in with five digs and one kill.
Meagan Dattoma led Manhattanville with 15 kills while Keisha Schutte had 44 assists.
King's returns to the court Friday and Saturday at the Hartwick College Invitational in Oneonta, NY.
