KING'S VOLLEYBALL LOSES TWICE ON FINAL DAY OF HARTWICK INVITATIONAL
ONEONTA, N.Y. --- The King's College volleyball team lost both of their matches on the final day of the Hartwick Invitational in Oneonta N.Y. on Saturday. The Monarchs dropped a tough 3-2 decision to Nazareth College before falling 3-0 to SUNY Plattsburgh.
Nazareth won by scores of 25-19, 19-25, 29-31, 25-22, and 15-10 while Plattsburgh defeated King's 25-15, 25-23, and 25-21. The Monarchs finish 1-2 at the tournament and now stand at 9-3 overall.
Rachel Miller led King's against Nazareth with 21 kills and 25 digs.
Katelyn Shifflett added 13 kills while
Julie Kollar had 23 digs.
Maddie Kumm recorded 46 assists and
Alexis Swagler had 17 digs.
The Golden Flyers were led by Carmen Sapp with 13 kills. Kelsey Milligan and Danielle Synowski recorded 11 kills each and Melissa Newcomb added 10 kills. Jessica Barry had 27 assists while Celia Cordero recorded 24 assists and 12 digs. Savannah Bothner led the team with 30 digs.
Jill Korgeski and Miller each recorded 11 kills against SUNY Plattsburgh while Shifflett added six kills.
Alyssa Robinson recorded two serving aces while Kumm recorded 29 assists and Kollar led the team with 25 digs.
Rachel Galante led King's with three total blocks.
The Monarchs will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Madison N.J. for a big MAC Freedom matchup with FDU-Florham beginning at 6:00 p.m.
