KING'S MEN'S SOCCER REGISTERS 2-0 VICTORY OVER CENTENARY

WILKES-BARRE -- Freshman Liam McLoughlin scored twice to power the King's College men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Centenary College on the final day of the Monarch/Royal Classic Saturday at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win King's improved to 1-1 on the year while Centenary slipped to 0-2. The Monarchs pushed across the first score 6:45 into the game when McLoughlin knocked in a loose ball in front of he Cyclone net.  The Monarchs had an opportunity to add to the lead when King's was awarded a penalty kick at 10:46. But Cyclone keeper Devon Warne made a leaping save to keep Centenary within a goal.

Owen Geedey helped the Monarchs take the lead into the break when he stopped a Centenary breakaway at the 26:53 mark. 

In the second half the score remained the same until the final minute of play when McLoughlin took a pass from Aidan DeCamillo and converted the feed into a 2-0 final score.

Both King's and Centenary had 11 shots and five corner kicks apiece. Geedey made six saves for the Monarchs while Warne posted four stops for the Cyclones.

King's returns to action Wednesday with a 7:00 PM home game against the University of Scranton at McCarthy Stadium.
