KING'S FIELD HOCKEY REGISTERS 4-1 WIN OVER MARYWOOD

SCRANTON -- The King's College field hockey team raced out to a 3-1 halftime lead, em route to posting a 4-1 victory over host Marywood University Sunday on Scranton. 

With the win, King's improved to 3-5 with  its third straight victory while Marywood slipped to 1-7.

King's took a 1-0 lead 7:55 into the game when Brianna DiMaggio scored off an assist from Kelsey Gabriele. The lead grew to 2-0 at 9:04 when DiMaggio scored unassisted on a fast break off of a restart.

Marywood got on the board at 18:52 when Jenna Dickey scored unassisted, but Gabrielle gave the Monarchs a 3-1 lead at the break when she blasted in a shot from 10 yards out after a pass from Anastasia Araviakis with 4:22 left in the opening stanza.

King's added the final goal of the game at the 44:58 mark when Selina Malacari scored off a feed from DiMaggio to set the final score.

King's outshot Marywood 18-17 and held a 7-5 edge in penalty corners.  King's starting goalie Kayla Nailor made seven saves in playing 54:10 of the game while Brianne Maluda played the final 15:50.

King's will next travel to face Keystone College Wednesday at 4:00 PM
