KING'S FIELD HOCKEY DOWNS KEYSTONE, 2-1
LAPLUME -- The King's College field hockey team built a 2-0 halftime lead, posting a 2-1 victory over host Keystone College Wednesday in La Plume.
With the win, King's improved to 4-5 while Keystone slipped to 4-5.
King's took a 1-0 lead when Kelley O'Keefe scored just 1:10 into the game on a tap-in during a scramble in front of the net. The score grew to 2-0 at the 22:57 mark when Brianna DiMaggio scored on a rebound after Kelsey Gabriele's shot caromed off the post as the Monarchs took a two-goal lead into the halftime break.
Keystone cut the lead to 2-1 at 50:31 on a goal by Kayla Bain. Neither team would find the net the rest of the way as the Monarchs walked away with the victory.
King's held a 18-7 advantage in shots as well as an 11-6 lead in shots on goal. The Monarchs also owned a 9-5 advantage in penalty corners. King's goalie Kayla Nailor made five saves.
King's returns home Friday night when the Monarchs host MAC Freedom Conference rival Delaware Valley at 7:00 PM at McCarthy Stadium.
