PITTSTON, Pa. - The Soaring Eagles netted four powerplay goals against the Monarchs to gain the 6-1 conference victory in Pittston Saturday night. Freshman Tyler O'Mara recorded his second career goal in the King's loss.

With the win, Elmira moves to 9-8-2 overall and 4-4-2 in UCHC play, while King's falls to 0-17-0 overall.

Elmira came out of the gates strong, scoring at the 3:09 mark after Joe Smith and Patrick Schmelzinger found Aleksi Ojala for the open net. A major penalty on the Monarchs late in the period allowed the Soaring Eagles to capitalize on the man advantage with two more goals coming with six minutes remaining. King's would answer with 1:34 left when Luciano Bucci connected with Tyler O'Mara to cut the Elmira lead to 3-1.

The defenses locked down in the second with neither goaltender allowing a score. Freshman  Mike Cosentino recorded 14 saves in the period, while Elmira's Gennaro Anzevino made seven.

Penalties would prove to be too much for the Monarchs, with two more Elmira powerplay goals coming in the final period. Anthony Parrucci scored in the finals seconds to seal the game at 6-1.

King's returns to action on Jan. 26 for a road contest at MAC opponent Stevenson.
