KING'S MEN'S HOCKEY FALLS TO STEVENSON, 3-1
OWINGS MILLS, MD -- The host Stevenson University men's hockey team scored one goal in each period as the Mustangs posted a 3-1 victory over visiting King's College Friday night in Owings Mills, MD.
With the win, Stevenson improved to 8-6-6 and 6-2-3 in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference. The Monarchs, meanwhile, slipped to 0-18 and 0-10 in the UCHC.
Stevenson took a 1-0 lead when Nick Gray scored at the 13:59 mark of the first period off assists by Carl Lyden and Doug Rose.
The Monarchs knotted the score 5:12 into the second period when Tyler O'Mara struck net with assists being credited to Luciano Bucci and Mitchell Foster. But the Mustangs scored just 0:18 later when Woods converted passes from Colton McMenamin and Xavier Abdella. Neither team would score the remainder of the period as Stevenson took a 2-1 lead heading into the final period.
The score would remain the same until 4:23 remaining when Nick Bohatiuk scored off assists by Christian Ripley and Jordan Watt.
Stevenson outshot King's 37-14 and held a 40-23 advantage in faceoffs won. King's goalie Link Ferch made 34 saves in the game while Mustang keeper Jacob Caffrey had 13 stops.
King's will head right back on the ice Saturday with a 4:00 PM matchup at Neumann University in Aston.
