WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (October 13, 2018) – It was an eventful first day of the Middle Atlantic Conference Men's Individual Championship as much of the morning was delayed by storms. As multiple Monarchs are headed to the semi-finals, one duet made it to the finals before dropping to last years champs.

Singles Brackets

Due to multiple venues being utilized and weather delays, the singles brackets will be finished tomorrow for the tournament's second day.

Three Monarchs gear up to play semi-finals tomorrow. In the No. 1 flight
Tyler Millan who took down Alvernia's Michael Brophy 6-0, 6-1 will now face Juan Huertas of Manhattanville for a spot in the finals.
Jason Homschek (6-0, 6-0) took down Misericoria's Matt McCaffrey in a two-set sweep and will now play Larry Johnson of Stevenson for the sixth flight finals. In No. 7 singles, freshman
Nick Holland (6-0, 6-0) breezed by Misericordia's Adam Simmonette to his next opponent Alexander Post from Arcadia.

Nick Harth (6-2, 6-4),
Austin Mackey (6-0, 6-4) and
Owen Hegarty (6-0, 6-0) all won first rounds in their respective bracket and will resume their quest for the title Sunday.

Doubles Brackets
Â
Mackey and Millan were the only King's doubles to make it to the finals round where they faced off against Murphy/White of Wilkes for a shot at the championship in the No.1 bracket. The duo won their previous match 8-5 over Arcadia pair Simeone/DiBenedetto and unfortunately fell 8-4 to the Wilkes twosome. Wilkes won last years single and doubles titles.
MAC Championship resumes tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. at Kirby Park.
