Miller Named All-Tournament Team as Volleyball Splits at MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Ma. (October 13, 2018) – On the second day of the MIT Quad Tournament King's College split with a 3-0 loss against Hunter College as well as a 3-0 win facing Utica College. Senior Rachel Miller was named to the All-Tournament Team as she finished both days of the tournament with a total of 23 kills, 10 digs, three blocks, zero errors and 25.5 points. Miller is one more execution away from placing fifth on the program's all time kill percentage list. The Monarchs are now 17-7 overall.

In the first match-up against the Hawks, the team combined to record 21 kills. Olivia Musto led the team with eight while Miller grabbed four and Becca Goldberg three. Wiatt Hoffman played a significant role on offense and defense in this match, setting up 18 assists and lifting eight digs. Karissa Hartzell and Taylor Mueller contributed an ace but despite efforts lost the contest 25-12, 25-19 and 25-12.
 
The Monarchs came back locked and loaded to face the Pioneers. Miller (18), Goldberg (13) and Rachel Galante (8) all dominated in the three-set sweep launching rockets over the net. King's hit over a .300 percentage in two out of three sets and sunk 43 executions. Kitchner, Miller and Sarah Hayward put up two blocks each and Mueller 17 digs to keep Utica scoring at bay. Grace Frati had an exceptional game with nine digs and two service aces while Hoffmann hit 40 assists and an ace. The women finished the match with set scores 25-13, 25-16 and a heated 26-24.

King's will return home for another conference match against Misericordia University on Tuesday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the McGrane Gymnasium.
