Monarch Volleyball Match Notes - DeSales University

WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 22, 2018) – The King's College women's volleyball team will take on conference-leading DeSales University in their final conference match of the season. Last season, in the Middle Atlantic Conference semi-finals, DeSales took down King's in four sets. The Monarchs play for pride while the Bulldogs will gear up for the MAC Freedom playoffs.

Last Time Out: King's reached 20 wins for the fourth consecutive year as they swept a tri-match at Marywood against Pratt Institute and host Marywood. King's combined for a .183 hitting percentage. Rachel Miller had a .625 hitting percentage in 24 attempts in the win against Marywood, while Danielle Kitchner had eight kills and just two errors in 16 attempts in their win against Pratt Institute.

  • Wiatt Hoffmann has 8.81 assists per game; that is sixth in the MAC Freedom.
  • Becca Goldberg is second on the team with 180 kills.
  • Karissa Hartzell is second on the team with 0.36 service aces per set.

  • The Bulldogs have clinched the top seed in the MAC Freedom conference tournament.
  • DeSales is 9-21 all-time against the Monarchs and have won their last 12 head-to-head meetings.
  • With a victory, DeSales will have its fifth consecutive season of 20 or more wins.
  • Audrey Wolfe is third in the conference with 10.00 assists per set.
  • Morgan Shoemaker is fifth in the MAC Freedom with a .320 hitting percentage and is second with 1.02 blocks per set.
  • Madison Feity is third with 0.85 blocks per set.
  • Natalie Gray is third in the MAC Freedom with 5.09 digs per set.
  • Gabby Savite leads the team with 326 kills. Her next kill will make her the program's all-time leader in kills, breaking a record that has stood for 22 years. She has led the Bulldogs in kills for the fourth consecutive year.
  • Michele Zabinski is in her 14th year as DeSales head coach, and has a 269-180 record, a .599 winning percentage.
 
Up Next: The Monarchs will conclude the season with a home matchup against Keystone College at McGrane Gymnasium on Friday at 6:00 p.m., King's will honor its two seniors before the game.
