King's Volleyball Ends Season 20-10

WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 26, 2018) – In the Monarchs last game of the season, King's was defeated by Keystone College. The team put up good fight but Keystone took all three sets with scores of 25-23, 25-18 and 25-19. It was also senior night for the Monarchs where Rachel MillerOlivia Musto and Julie Kollar were honored. King's will end the season 20-10 and 3-4 in conference play while Keystone will compete in the MAC Championships.
 
Miller was able to hit 10 kills and Musto seven in their last game as a Monarch and freshman Grace Fratiwas able to come in and make some plays with five kills of her own and 12 digs.
 
Musto also recorded two aces, Wiatt Hoffmann31 assists and the duo of Danielle Kitchnerand Becca Goldberg slammed three block assists at the net.
 
The first was a close game as points were neck and neck for the two teams. Miller scored the first point of the set while a service ace by Taylor Muellerwas next. The Monarchs fourth point was a killer block by Goldberg and Kitchner, and it would not be their last. Miller, Musto and Goldberg combined for the .122 hitting percent in the first set. The Giants would then come back from a four-point deficit at 21-23 to take the first win. 
 
The next set was full of errors on both teams tallying a combined total of 14. King's would only sink eight kills this set despite the 18 points. Miller grabbed the first few terminations as well as an ace. Fellow senior Musto hit three. It was a high defense set with a block from Sarah Hayward and Wiatt Hoffmann to try and even out the scores. It was a few points later that Goldberg and Kitchner would deliver two blocks almost back to back before getting shutout by Keystone.
 
Karissa Hartzell came in as libero for a twist in the final battle as well as freshman Meg O'BrienCleo Shultz and sophomore Lindsey Brady. Schultz did not disappoint with three kills and O'Brien with one. Frati got all five of her kills in the third set and Musto racked up a few kills before scoring King's final point with an ace.  
 
King's women's volleyball end their season played a total of 105 sets. A total of 1158 kills led by Miller (409), a .176 percentage, 1084 assists putting Hoffmann at the top spot (929), 203 aces as well 1740 digs both headlined by Mueller (55, 508) and 99 blocks having 37 of those by Kitchner.
