Monarch Field Hockey Match Notes – Keuka

WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 8, 2018) - The King's College field hockey team will play their last non-conference game of the regular season on Wednesday as they take on Keuka College in Keuka, N.Y.  The Monarchs are looking to overcome a tough loss at home to Eastern University on Friday as they start a three-game swing away from McCarthy Stadium, beginning with their first-ever visit to the Finger Lakes town.

Last Time Out: The Monarchs surrendered two goals to conference foe Eastern in each half, and a big early deficit proved to be too much to overcome in a 4-2 loss. Rachel Zultevicz and Kelsey Gabriele scored, while Kelley O'Keefe recorded two assists.

  • This week's meeting will mark exactly one year since their first meeting, in which the Monarchs earned a 5-2 victory behind Kelsey Gabriele's two goals on Oct. 10, 2017.
  • King's has registered shutouts in 36% of their games, ranked 36th of 165 Division III teams and 2nd in the MAC Freedom.
  • Senior captain Taylor Runo has made four defensive saves this season, good for 33rd in Division III field hockey.
  • Fellow fourth-year captain Kelsey Gabriele is first in the MAC Freedom with 55 total shots, is second with 3.93 shots per game, and third with seven goals.
  • Gabriele is 10th on the program's all-time list with 36 career goals, and ninth with 89 career points.
  • Sophomore Jolee Treslar and Kelley O'Keefe each have four assists on the season, tied for third most in the conference.
  • O'Keefe recorded her first multi-assist game of her career by assisting in both Monarch goals in their loss against Eastern on Friday.
  • Goalkeeper Brianne Maluda has allowed 2.22 goals per contest, ranked fifth best in the MAC Freedom, and has a .717 save percentage.
  • Maluda also has four shutouts this year, which is the second most in the conference.
 
The Book on the Wolves (3-7):
  • The Wolves are in their fourth season in program history, where they've compiled an 8-41 record.
  • Tessa Knapp is in her third season as coach of the Wolves, and helped the University at Albany qualify for the NCAA Division I Tournament in 2010.
  • Keuka is 29th in Division III field hockey with 8.70 saves per game.
  • Alyssa Orsino is tied for first in the NEAC with five goals on the season.
  • Orsino recorded the third hat trick in program history her last time out and the first in her career in a 4-3 victory over Morrisville last Wednesday.
  • Adele Fairbrother has four defensive saves this season, tied for 33rd in Division III field hockey and has the most in the NEAC.
  • Kassidy Valentine is first in the NEAC with 3.75 goals allowed per game.
  • Shelby Lamb is second on the team with two goals and five points.
