Monarch Women’s Basketball Game Notes – DeSales

WILKES-BARRE, PA (December 6, 2018) – The King's College women's basketball team will look to carry their five-game winning streak into MAC Freedom play on Saturday, as they travel to DeSales University at 1 p.m. The Monarchs look for their second win in MAC Freedom conference play.

  • The 88 points against Eastern Wednesday were the most points in a MAC Freedom game since posting 88 in a victory over Wilkes back on February 20, 2016.
The Book on the Bulldogs (6-2, 1-0 MAC Freedom):
  • DeSales was picked to finish first of eight teams in the MAC Freedom preseason coaches' poll taken in October, earning six of the conference's eight first-place votes.
  • DeSales leads the MAC Freedom in both scoring offense and scoring margin.
  • The Bulldogs are second in the conference for rebounding offense as well as offensive rebounds.
  • In the Bulldogs' last game on Wednesday against the Devils, freshman Averi Jordan and senior Leandra Sterner each had 14 points to lead the scoring attack.
  • Junior Molly Jansco came off the bench to total nine points and senior Morgan Birmelin finished with seven points and four assists.
  • Sterner leads the bulldogs in total points with 114 and posts eighth in the conference, while teammate Morgan Birmelin is second for the team with 92 points and holds the 17th spot for overall scoring points.
  • Sterner also leads the team and the conference with a .536 field goal percentage.
  • Bridget Walsh is first in the conference for blocked shots with an average of 2.9 per game.
