KING'S WRESTLERS WIN ON OPENING NIGHT OF CROSS COUNTY CHALLENGE
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College wrestling team was victorious on the opening night of the two-day Cross County Challenge Friday night in Scandlon Gymnasium. King's defeated Keystone College 39-12.
Only four matches were actually wrestled as the teams combined for six forfeits.Â
After the teams traded forfeits at 1215 and 133, Jake Taylor gave King's a 9-6 lead with a 3-2 decision to improve to 20-9 on the year. Jake Daniel then upped the Monarch lead to 12-6 with a 8-6 decision at 149. King's led grew to 18-6 with a forfeit victory at 157.
Keystone trimmed the score to 18-12 with a in at 167. But King's received three straight forfeits at 174, 184, and 197 before Monarch heavyweight Ralph Bernardo ended the night with a 9-1 major decision and upped his season ledger to 23-8.
King's will conclude the second day of the Cross County Challenge Saturday at 1:30 PM against the University of Scranton in Scranton
