KING'S MEN IMPROVE TO 3-0 IN MAC FREEDOM WITH SWEEP OF MISERICORIDA

WILKES-BARRE, PA -- The King's College men's tennis stayed undefeated in conference play with a 9-0 sweep over Misericordia University on Wednesday afternoon at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre.

The Monarchs improved to 8-5 overall and 3-0 in conference matches. The Cougars fell to 0-8 overall and 0-1 in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom play.

King's began the match by dropping just one game in doubles play. Nathan Carl and Tyler Millan won 8-1 at the top flight. Austin Mackey teamed with Jason Homschek while Cameron Tuck and Terry Briggs won by identical 8-0 scores to give the Monarchs a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.

The strong play continued in singles as all six players won in straight sets and only dropped a combined 10 games. Carl won 6-2, 6-1 in the top flight while Millan improved to 15-3 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at number two. Briggs won 6-0, 6-2 at number three and Mackey was victorious at fourth singles with at 6-0, 6-1. Tuck won 6-0, 6-1 at number five and Homschek wrapped things up with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at sixth singles.

The Monarchs will be back in action tomorrow afternoon with a non-conference match at Elizabethtown College beginning at 4:00 p.m.
